Our referral process begins when a school, parent, or carer makes an inquiry. We discuss your requirements and conduct an initial assessment to determine the suitability for our support package.
The next stage involves arranging a mutually convenient time for you to visit. This visit includes a tour of our facility and a discussion about the needs of your young person. We request that the young person is not present during the visit, and we strongly suggest that the visit is not discussed with them until we have completed the suitability assessment of a placement at BEES. During the visit, we will explain the timings and activities of a normal day, along with some of the terms of the provision.
If all parties still feel BEES is an appropriate provision, we invite the young person to visit our provision. It is advisable for parents or carers to also attend this visit where appropriate. This visit will be much more informal. It will involve meeting the team, the animals, and discussing what we do and why. Our team will make a final and discreet assessment before confirming if we can offer a placement, taking into consideration the dynamics of other young people currently in placement.
Following the Young Person Visit, we provide feedback on our observations and confirm whether or not we feel BEES can provide a suitable placement. We will outline the details of the bespoke support package and discuss what needs to be in place for this to happen, including funding. We encourage our visitors to talk with young people about whether they would like to join BEES. We ask our prospective clients to let us know the answer at the earliest opportunity.
Upon successful confirmation that we can provide a placement and that all parties would like to proceed, we will send the referral and relevant documents for completion. Once the paperwork is returned, we can often initiate the placement within as little as a week.
